This New Me...
1st February 2016
Have you ever felt yourself slowly becoming a new person? It's a strange feeling because day-by-day you feel the same, but when you look back you are completely different! It's something that I have been thinking about recently because I've been making a lot of changes with the start of the new school year. I'm determined to be a much more effective teacher after the drama of last year! I'm working to improve my confidence and organisation so that I can be my most powerful self.
I've given my wardrobe a complete overhaul. Out with the 10-year-old styles and T-shirts that were my university style, and in with smart casual chic! Seriously though I have replaced over half of my clothes. It feels great! I feel much more confident and professional in my new style. I love it.
I'm also being so much more organised. I've been planning my clothes the night before. I've been waking up early so that I can get ready at my pace and get to work early. I've gone mad with the label maker at school! Its organisation central! At the moment everything has a place and it looks great! We'll see how long that lasts...
I've also been calmer at work. After setting expectations properly with my class, I'm finding the classroom time of teaching almost tranquil. My new class are absolutely lovely which I think is giving me the chance to spread my teacher wings. I'm excited to see where they take me!
Do you ever look at yourself and contemplate how far you have come? Over the years, I have changed and grown so much! I'm so different to who I was, even last year. I'm proud of who I am becoming. My life is not without stress, but I love my job, my family are supportive and I'm happy and healthy. That's a whole lot to be grateful for.
This new me is powerful and starting to be confident with voicing her important opinions. This new me is brave and can take charge of situations. This new me is working on developing new friendships and relationships. This new (and old) me loves geeking out about Harry Potter, books and superheroes (because some things never really change). This new me is doing alright :)
I'd love to hear some of your stories of growth and change. What are some positives about the 'new you'?
